Cells Life has many yummy active ingredients to help strengthen and repair your skin, so let's start with the stand out; Hyaluronic Acid. Now, you’ve probably heard about this ingredient and for good reason too! So what’s the hype around Hyaluronic Acid all about and what does it actually do?

Many skin care ingredients with the word acid in it are designed to exfoliate the skin (e.g glycolic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid). Now, just to confuse you, hyaluronic acid does not exfoliate. Instead, it provides the skin with intense hydration and stimulates collagen and elastin production which is vital to keep us looking fresh faced and youthful! And guess what? Our body naturally produces hyaluronic acid! If we look at an adult with a body weight of 70kg we can assume that 15g of Hyaluronic acid can be found in the body and a whopping 50% of that hyaluronic acid is found in the skin (it is our body's largest organ after all)! As fantastic as it is that our body makes hyaluronic acid, it knows how to break it down just as well too. ⅓ of the skin's hyaluronic acid degrades in one single day (hello dehydration). On top of that, as we age, our hyaluronic acid production slows right down. So it’s our job to replenish and stimulate the production. You can do that by adding it topically into your skincare routine (enter Cells Life) and by adding it to your diet. Naturally it can be found in root vegetables, soy products, leafy greens, broths made with animal bones or connective tissues so eat up!

Hyaluronic Acid is hydrophilic meaning it attracts water. A fun little science experiment would show that if you add a drop of Hyaluronic Acid into a glass of water it would turn the water into jelly! By applying hyaluronic acid onto your skin, it will hold up to 1000x its own weight in water, binding that moisture to your skin. Don’t worry though, your skin won’t turn to jelly, it will just be much more plump! This is so important as dehydrated skin is linked to causes of unhealthy skin and can give the appearance of premature ageing.

If your skin is dehydrated you will notice fine superficial lines. A relatable example is after a night of drinking the next morning your lines may seem more prominent and this is because of the lack of hydration.

Hyaluronic Acid helps to combat this by hydrating and improving the skin's barrier. Once the skin is happy, hydrated and healthier, it’s able to better absorb nutrients into the cell which maximises the benefit of active ingredients.

You can think of your skin cells as a stream of water down the river. Skin nourished with hyaluronic acid enables the water to flow down the stream effortlessly without any interruptions. Now, add some rocks in the mix and all of a sudden the water has to manoeuvre its way around the rocks. The rocks symbolise your skin concerns. Yes, you can still use skincare but it’s going to take longer to work if there are “rocks” blocking the way. Hyaluronic acid makes the communication between your skin cells and skincare clearer, enabling the ingredients to penetrate to where they need to go!

So what other impressive ingredients does Cells Life contain? Here's a few of our faves!

  • Oligopeptides. A peptide is a chain of amino acids that stimulates the skin to produce more collagen and hyaluronic acid, helping to plump out visible lines and wrinkles, making the skin feel firmer and more lifted.
  • Proteoglycan. The main action of proteoglycan is to repair dehydrated skin and improve collagen formation. Once the skin is hydrated it’s able to better absorb nutrients into the cell which maximises the benefit of active ingredients.
  • Mucoglycoprotein. Another amino acid required for collagen production that replenishes skin and has hydrating benefits.
  • Soluble collagen derived from algae. This is an antioxidant that hydrates and improves skin elasticity.
  • Ferment. Ferment is rich in hyaluronic acid, peptides and postbiotics, all beneficial to improving the skin microbiome and overall health.
  • Growth Factors. These replicate cells, reduce inflammation and stimulate collagen production.

Here’s how simple it is to incorporate Cells Life into your daily skincare routine.

Use AM or PM or both on cleansed skin. If you’re on the Synchro bandwagon you can use Cells Life under or over it. Apply 3 pumps directly to the face; one on the forehead and one on each cheek and massage around. For an extra hit of hydration you can apply Cells Life under any of your Gernetic treatment masks such as Argini or Immuno.

So...Are you ready to give your cells some LIFE? You know what to do ;)
